Just watched the pilot. Between this & The Leftovers, summer Sunday programming has been a massive letdown.

Weak pilot. Not even close to a Breaking bad, or GoT 1st episode.
It's sorta like a harder version of supernatural.

Just starting it. Good god. This acting is horrible. I hope that little guy with the glasses gets infected.

ETA: David Goyer had to have a part in writing this.

It's time for me to start re-watching Supernatural.

Holy shite this was bad.

Midway through I thought I might be watching a horror movie parody. Acting, writing, and directing all atrocious. Characters making decisions that make no sense.

Damn. And I was excited about this one.

I think reading this thread before helped lower my expectations enough for me to not hate it. Pretty bad writing and acting but I could see it getting better. Not a fan of the walking dead zombie thing at all. The pilot really wasn't at all what I was expecting.

This show makes The Leftovers look like GoT. Stopped watching 20 minutes in.

Tough crowd in here. I didn't think it was that bad. It's a pilot. I will continue to watch to see where this is going. The previews at the end definitely gave off a Supernatural vibe, not sure if that will be better or worse.

Well It was sorta fun to see Walder Frey take on a Van Helsing/Dr Loomis role.

Just felt sloppy and rushed.

Vampires brah. It is actually interesting how they treat it as a different organism rather than someone who is just dead and needs blood.

I'd watch it, this board shite on everything all the time.

It was a first episode and it had its moments. I'll keep watching.

I like left overs better right now though.

Intriguing is a good description of both shows right now. They can take either show and make it great or terrible. Though i have much more faith in HBO.

I read the books as well. It's definitely a pilot that is lacking but I would assume that it's just growing pains.

My major concern is that the show will continue to get worse. The first book was awesome, the second was good, the third was a turd sandwich. So if the show mangles the initial material, which was fantastic, how are they going to handle it when it starts getting bad.

If they make bad out of good, they'll make good out of bad, so there's no where to go but up

can anybody explain why samwise gamgee would tell Mr. F that walder frey was there? esp when he knew he was going to help the secret society let the big box out?

i know frick-all about the book so i could be totally wrong, but i'd just assumed he wasn't entirely in the loop & he didn't know one thing was connected to the other....but once he helped get the box off the premises, maybe it was then that he figured it out.

i'll give it another episode or two, 'cuz the promos for the upcoming eps look intriguing enough. maybe my expectations were too high, but that's only because FX usually delivers more often than not...

Definitely better than the leftovers

There are zombie vampires walking around killing everyone, but this show isn't about that. Everyone just ignores it because it's waaaay more interesting to see how the characters handle interpersonal relationships moving forward

frick the leftovers

Oh I think they could go much further down.

My main gripe is the main vampire being Spawn for lack of a better example. And the acting was bad. I kind of liked Filch as Setrakian but I was expecting a lot more from Cory Stoll after House of Cards.

I think that the complaints about the plot will be resolved as it unfolds. It's not just a vampire story.

There was some really bad acting in this.

The first really bad acting came from the flight attendants when the door was being banged on. I was laughing at how early they were on the CGI cue.

Walder Frey wasn't bad.
I fell asleep at some point.

I'll watch it again I guess to see.
