I see people are saying he's comparable to Ben Wallace...
I've been reading up on him a little bit and I've seen a lot of him over the years and I think he can definitely be a Stoudemire type of player... Patric's form is very correctable, so he can definitely refine that mid range/ elbow shot.

Now, we all know he has what no one can teach, and that is his hustle and physicality. In that sense he's very much a Ben Wallace type of player and not Stoudemire-esque.

I just think he has a little more potential offensively. His footwork under the hoop is great, and his body control is crazy good.

Check out this highlight and let me know if you agree.

Like the 20 ppg Stoudemire? Cmon.

I like Young for what he is and where we got him, but this is getting a bit ridiculous.

And comparing to Ben Wallace just isn't fair to Ben Wallace. Dude was a MVP candidate for a few years there in Detroit. I get the comparison, but we should just say Young is a well built hustle player with no offensive game.

I think if Young could develop into a Brandon Bass, then we should be happy. People really need to pump the breaks on this kid. Everyone is huge in the NBA. This isn't the SEC anymore.

I don't like the ben Wallace comparison simply because why are you comparing them? I remember him saying the FO wants him to become like a ben Wallace and not saying he is just like him.

And you know everyone is not huge in the NBA. They may all be tall but they're not all ripped.

I just want to see what happens with him. All we need him for is hustle, blocks, and be a man in the paint and get them rebounds. If he becomes something more, glad to have him.

I get it, but the guy wasn't even an elite shot blocker or rebounder at the college level. He isn't going to just come in and start blocking and out rebounding taller and bigger players.

Going back to Brandon Bass, he came in to the NBA similar to Young. A built PF/C tweener without a defined role. He was also a better rebounder and shot blocker than Young was in college, and he doesn't set the NBA on fire doing either. He is a decent enough role player, though, as he does a bunch of things pretty well and possesses that little 15 foot jumper.

False. Bass was undersized PF. Not a shot blocker by any stretch of imagination. Had a 100 times better offense game than young. Only thing that sounds right from that was bass was better rebounder. Also better all around player in college. Young possibly could have a higher ceiling but also could be way worse than bass in NBA

Brandon has an insane work ethic. Young seems to be a hard worker so hopefully that serves him well. That usually translates to rebounding and high efficiency near the rim in these type of games.

Yeah, as Young is an undersized C. He falls into the range where he is big and strong enough to guard centers, yet isn't too lumbering where he cannot guard PFs.

Bass is a tad short but still had the strength and size to guard Cs while also being able to handle PFs.

Bass averaged 2 blocks a game at LSU

I know who Young is, but haven't watched him that much. Isn't he like Johnny OB with a lesser offensive game?

I guess he's somewhat similar to JOB but more athletic with better quickness.

JOB better post game. People are over rating his offensive game. He is a rebounder garbage points type player. His hustle will keep him around. Maybe he can eventually develop a decent low post game.

Young is 3" taller than Brandon Bass with shoes on, fwiw

ETA: Young was an even 6'10" with shoes on at the pre draft camp. I don't get all the undersized references

Bass was a good shot blocker though in college. I see what he was saying too.

His huge shoulders limits his standing reach, given that you don't defend with your head, but with your arms up. Players his height can extend over him without jumping. Granted...he's strong enough to keep anyone around his size from getting where they want.

I think it all balances out.

He also is very agile. Moves his feet well, so he's an optimal defender against any teams we play that run the PnR a lot.

I think you just came around when somebody started talking about an lsu player and it's funny. Young barely got any PT on Florida and it still confuses me.
