Dexter - Just finished the series - Spoilers

So I just finish season 4 of Dexter which is the one with John Lithgow for anyone that needs reminding. The show is pretty awesome at this point. I usually don't care for law enforcement dramas, but Dexter and the Wire are the exceptions.
My thoughts so far -
1. Either writers/show runners from Six Feet Under were on the Dexter team or the Dexter team stole from them. I've hated every character at some point. At the same time, I've felt empathy for just about every character at some point - even Lithgow's character. The only other show I've ever watched that does that is Six Feet Under.
2. The ending to season 4 (Rita axed) just made me sick to my stomach. Literally thought about stopping watching the show. I didn't want to watch anymore when he found her phone when he tried calling her. I watched the first 10 minutes of Season 5 just a few minutes ago while talking to a man about a wallabe and I think I'll be able to go on.
3. I saw a thread a while back about Angel Batista being a bad actor. I actually thought he opposite as someone who saw him in Oz. I sometimes now forget he was ever in Oz while watching Dexter and its the only two places I've seen him that I can remember. Same thing with La Guerta. I guess that doesn't qualify them as good actors for everyone but they are certainly not one role actors. I saw Kirk Acevedo in Apes this past Friday and I can't say the same for him (as far as Oz alums go).
4. Vince Masuka is my all time support character on a tv show ever.

You don't need to remind anybody about season 4 trust me.
Those 4 seasons were really really epic

The first two were absolute greatness. The ending of four was beyond shocking. As they say, "It's all downhill from here".

That's what I've read and seen here and there. I'm willing to give it a chance. I think Vince Masuka alone can keep me coming back for more.

It's a real mistake to keep watching.
I would not watch a single episode past the first of season five.
Just not worth the time.

If you're dead set on continuing the series, do yourself a favor and pretend the series finale is the last episode of season 7.

I wish they had just ended the series there. Would've been epic.

I stopped after season 4 and have no desire to watch anymore. I enjoyed it though.

I never watched Dexter. I know my dad was in to it and always told me to watch it.
He talked me into Breaking Bad as well, a year after my Grandpa was telling me to watch it.

Masuka was good up until they totally underutilized him. What could have been.

Just wait until you see a family member of his at work.

Or think of the rest of the series as a comedy.

I watched season 5. Julia Stiles may be the worst actor ever and definitely made that season a little tough. I did like Liddy and Johnny Lee Miller's character though. Although I'm sure it keeps going downhill I'm going to watch the 6th season.
