I am one of those liberals that you'll pay to have out of America.

I will gladly renounce my US citizenship if this board can raise the funds necessary for me to become a citizen of the UK.

Quit talking about it. Do it. I'm one of those people who hate 'Merica and that you'll happily see out of the country.

A corporation is a group of people.

To quote myself...

quote:

quote:

They aren't "people" in the biological sense. They are an entity recognized by law to have protections against government.

On the corporations are not people thing, if they're going to be taxed and regulated by the gov't as a group of people operating under a name, then they deserve and have every right to to voice their desire for whatever public policy they feel is best. Taxation with representation and why citizens united was a good decision by SCOTUS.

And I agree with what's being quoted.

Those citizens were already represented, you incredible dolt. Giving them two votes was a good idea? Making their corporation a new person with more rights than them was a good idea?

Jesus Christ, at some point you have to wonder who raised these people.

Let me add something: Guess what awesome thing will happen when corporations are run by people you don't like?

shite you don't like. Because they'll be able to buy votes.

frick, why isn't this obvious? You're, if anything, accelerating the complete demise of the America of yore you think existed and never did.

Yes, but it now seems a corporation can also have a religious belief. I don't think that was envisioned by prior decisions.

It wasn't, but they're excited now because a trinket store doesn't have to provide birth control.

I'm tempted to start about a zillion stores violating every possible religious law just to see where this goes. It's an incredibly irresponsible ruling.

Stockholders own corporations. Plus, big difference between expressing an opinion and this ruling.

The ruling did not address Hobby Lobby's claims under the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment.

Because their voices are different from their rights.

Voicing an opinion is a right (not for a corporation, because it isn't a person, but let's continue anyway). Voicing an opinion while spending huge amounts of money in the legislature to make sure your opinion seems intelligent isn't. Further, corporations and unions can spend however much they like on campaign funds. So... How, in the actual frick, are we being represented?

By contributing to PACs? By spending money with certain corporations? By being members of unions?

I had this weird idea where we were just voting, but maybe that's a bit too complicated...
