I like that we return Rasco and Hunter at DE. With those guys rushing the passer and our lockdown CB's we should be tough to pass against. My main concern is the run defense. We were softer against the run last year than we had been in the past, and this seems to be our main question mark this year. Who are the up and comers that will help us here?

When was the last time we had a "bad" defensive front? We've had better years than others but under chavis I don't think we've ever had a truly bad line.

I've got plenty of faith that some guys will make their names known. As much as it is a litte worrisome that our players are unproven in many spots, I think it's equally exciting to see who will emerge. I like this team and there is a potential there to win a lot of games. These guys will fight like heck and have a want to feel victory n the toughest division in the toughest conference. I think that's how les would sell it.

All you can really say is they are talented. Neither of our ends showed much last year. Hopefully each can double their sack total at the very least

I agree our main concern is the DT's. Loco and QT got quality playing time last year and have had a year of strength training to get bigger and stronger to better themselves. I think depth is the real question. Are Gilmore and Bain ready to step in and provide the depth we need especially late in the game? Hopefully those guys have dedicated themselves to working hard in the offseason and are ready to step up to the plate. I trust our coaching staff will field the best available.

As for the LBers, I think Welter will surprise some folks this year. He came on strong toward the backend of the season and seems to be a gym rat. My favorite LBers are Kwon, D Jones, Beckwith, and Feist. Once again, we must trust our coaching staff to play the best players possible.

The guy I am most amped about is Tashawn bower. He saw the field as a true frosh and I think he's going to blow up this year.

I love rasco but I think our best line play will come when bower and hunter line up at d end and lacouture and Thomas are at DT

I agree, I think Bower will be our next big pass rusher once Hunter is gone. Rasco gets the nod since he is the upper classman, but Bower has the bigger upside in my opinion. A lot of people are writing off this year because of the lack of experience, but I beg to differ. I think this could be the year with a little luck, and if everything falls into place, we could be the team to beat! Before last season started, the majority of college football fans would've laughed if you said Auburn would be in the NC game!

You're right he is supposed to be a monster, but the question is, does he have the work ethic to become one of the greats?

Has he shown poor work ethic? Or are we going to give the guy time to make a switch from de to dt?

Our line looked terrible last year and we lost half of them to the NFL. Now we have less experience and our only strength may be a pass rush. Our LB group is more experienced and hopefully better this year to help out on the run defense.

I won't be sold until I see it.

Should have gotten Freddie. Not only would have been a quality run stuffer, but also would have become a cult figure.

I thought loco and QT played at least as well as the starters last season. Loco was a freshman who will undoubtedly be much stronger, more physical, and more technically sound. As I recall towards the end of the year Chavis said QT would be the next in line of dominant DTs to come out of lsu. Then factor in all of those freshman from last year that now have an off-season under their belt.

Hunters the star. Going to have a huge breakout year. Not that well known yet, but he will be after this year. Potential 1st rounder.

Rasco is solid and doesnt really have a weakness. Plays just as well against the run as he does against the pass.

Christian Lacouture is going to be a player as well. Big and very athletic. Going to be the solid and consistent player on the DL.

All of our coaches love Quentin Thomas. Would have seen a lot more PT if he wasnt banged up last year. But Moffitt has said QT will make a pretty penny in the NFL. Hes built like a brick house and is physically imposing. Also an outstanding athlete.

Out of all the DTs, Bain could end up being the best. Hes 6'4 308lbs and is a freak athlete. Can dunk a basketball. In high school he ran with the skill position players during conditioning and his coach classified him as an athlete, not just a lineman. . Also played bball and averaged 19ppg and 11rebs. He has all the ability in the world and it sounds like he worked really hard in the offseason and added muscle and got a bit quicker.

I like Gilmore as well. Hes a versatile player. As is Frank Herron. Hopefully we see both of these guys getting some PT.

The freshman stud is Valentine IMO. He could play early on. I also have high hopes for Davon Godchaux. Might not play freshman year because he had a torn ACL his SR season, but I love his size and athleticism.

We have a lot of talent, just not that much experience at DT. Thats why people are a little skeptical. But it seems like we are young at a spot everywhere and those youngsters come in and do a great job. Our coaches do a great job preparing these guys, no reason to think it wouldnt be the same with the DTs.

Good players + Good coaches = Peace of mind

I believe you guys call it sunshine pumping, but I truly don't worry about our ability to field good to great defenses on a very regular basis.
