Would you rather your team win a domestic title or a Champions League title?

A buddy of mine who is a devout AS Roma fan told me he'd rather see Roma take the Scudetto (Serie A title) than win the Champions League if he could pick one or the other.
If I were asked the same question, I'd easily give the opposite response. The Champions League is the world's premier soccer competition; it's structured in a way that you MUST beat elite teams to win. Let's face it, winning a domestic title is more about being able to pick up 3 points against inferior opponents than it is about beating the other contenders. Out of the 38 games Chelsea will play in the EPL this season only 8 will be against other elite teams.
Not to mention the field is deeper for the Champions League since it's made up of the best teams from multiple leagues.
And lastly, the Champions League final is the world's biggest annual sporting event, drawing almost 3 times as many viewers as the Super Bowl.

Champions League for sure.

Hmm. A CL title would be awesome, but id like to see Spurs win the PL.
Hell, I'd settle for finishing above Arsenal.

You have to start someplace.

It depends on the season, really. But most will tell you the domestic league especially if they live in that country.

I'd rather win the league this season...

Finishing far away from relegation seems pretty cool.

US Open Cup is the only answer here.

All y'all forgetting the Club World Cup.

I don't really understand this line of thinking. Wouldn't you rather your team win the competition that is the hardest to win? Winning the Champions League is a much bigger accomplishment than winning any of the major European leagues.

99% of Liverpool fans would rather a domestic title. That's the exception though, because of our domestic drought and our success in Europe. Most other clubs would rather Europe.

I get the Liverpool thing. But they are surely the outlier here. For a Roma fan to say he would rather have the Scudetto than a Champions League trophy doesn't make much sense to me.
I may be reading to much into this, but something I've noticed in the past when this topic has come up is that American fans of European clubs are more likely to say they would rather win their domestic title over the CL. Like they think it gives them street cred or that's what they're supposed to say, rather than just coming up with an opinion of their own. But I'm a cynical a-hole and usually hyper sensitive when it comes to Euro snobbery, so I don't know. And I don't mean to accuse anyone of that, just a thought I had.
