Looking at the other threads where you could've had the Cavs for as high as 66:1 or higher at some point before LBJ returned, reminded me of a bet I made years ago.

The 2001 Superbowl between the Giants and Ravens. A friend of mine was leaving for Vegas and said that a shutout had 400 or 450:1 odds . Anyway, a few of us at work put together $1000. I was $200 of that.

In the history of the SB, there has never been a shutout. The Ravens looked like the best chance. We were looking good at halftime, 10-0. Then a fricking KO return for a TD (their only score of the game) ended my $90,000 dreams

I still to this day. What's yours?

I think your friend lied and told you shitty odds so he could take $200 from you.

I had 12 to 1 odds before the season started that LSU would win the 2011/12 national title. The BCSCG not only sucked as a fan, it hurt as a gambler.

Yeah, I don't think you even would get 400:1 odds on somebody running backwards 95 yards for a TD.

I had like 4 parlays we all two to 6 teams already won and had auburn -3 in the NC to close them all out the cam newton year. Ended up pushing so still won money but that review on the goaline then Cam not sneaking in from the inch line lost me a lot of money. It was heart breaking

The line closed at aub -1.5 or something but had 3 because I put the parlays in early.

In like 02 or 03 Miami Ohio vs Marshal. O/U 52. Score is 45-6 with 11 minutes left. Miami has it 1st and Goal inside 10. Run run pass. And the no field goal. They run it and turn it over. Then Marshal was going to break a long run and dude trips over himself with like 2 minutes. I had $800 on game because it was lock of century by a site I paid $100 for. Lol. I borrowed money to pay my bookie then that night being really drunk I chopped the $24 or 26 partypoker 40k for $5200. Got me a 27 inch plasma for 1200. Lol.

my dad bet some large amount of money on the Eagles to cover against the cowboys in week 17 right after it was announced that Romo wasn't going to play. He always treats betting against the cowboys like a business deal, if they win he just bought a win, if they lose he wins money. Anyway he was so nervous all day he basically drank himself into a coma and was asleep before the 1st quarter was over. Not only did he lose the bet, but the Cowboys almost won the game outright

Several years ago I had 15k riding on some random west coast baseball game. I was out at a club with buddies and around midnight or so thought I had the game won. Forget the exact circumstances but had a huge lead. Checked the score again later in the night an hour or 2 later and I had lost. Probably my biggest that I didn't win. I had the game bet in several parleys, reverses, if bets, etc. Everything else had hit and that 1 game meant like 15k or lose 1k.

Biggest single game (no parleys) was AU-Fsu. I was confident enough AU would win, I mostly just bet the moneyline. At halftime I took fsu and the points to hedge because I knew that late TD before the half was a game changer. Ended up winning maybe 400-500 overall, but if AU had won, would have been more like 10k.

At a job I had back in college, there was a local bookie that would drop off cards for each weekends football game. I never was serious about them but usually put up a buck on a twelve team parley. I think the twelve teamer paid 500 to 1 and 11 out of 12 paid 100 to 1. One weekend I decided to put 5 bucks on a 12 teamer. Lost one fricking pick. Still made 500 on a 5 dollar bet though.

Bookie said he never felt so good paying someone money.

Worst part was since it was basically free money I decided to put it into a stock. The stock was my brothers company which was selling at I think 97 cents per share. I threw the whole 500 into it and watched it drop to 23 cents. I dropped out and threw what I had left into some dumb arse penny stock. Failed. So I never saw a penny really. Years later I looked back at the original company and it had grown to some ungodly number. So I really missed out. I need to see what it's at now.

here it is

Not like it was something I could retire off of, but that would have been a hell of a return on a 5 dollar investment.

How much do you win on 50/1 odds? $50 for each dollar?

My dad, a lifelong Rams fan tried putting $100 on the Rams to win the Super Bowl way before the 1999 season out of convenience, as he was in Vegas during the summer. It was too early... So he lost out on a nice chunk of money.

I was in a pretty large bracket pool in 2008. It was down to me and someone else for the first place cash reward of $4,000.

I picked Memphis. He picked KU.

Screw Mario Chalmers.

I had 150 on Odysseus to win the Derby as a future and he did not even qualify.

Lost a 50 7 team parlay on last game due to Payton not kicking a FG for the over. It cost me 3800 and 75 dollar 5 team parlay because Kaep decided to play like a man and Boise's Kicker missed 2 gimmes that cost me 1150.

Not your Vegas odds bet but missed a trifecta at the track that would've netted me 10k by a horse. My third horse came in 4th.

Lost a grand on Texas to beat Texas Tech, the Crabtree game.

That same day I lost another $500 betting on FSU to beat GT, and FSU fumbled in the end zone with like a minute left and didn't recover.

Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere. I looked a few places and can't find old prop bets from a SB 13 years ago. Who knows what it was (he said it was 450:1), but the fact that there has never been a shutout leads me to believe it was very crazy high odds. Let's say it was 100:1, that's still $20k I didn't win because of 1 lucky arse KO return.
