Called a man about an 05 Tacoma with 51,000 miles( I know low miles). He wants 22 large for it. Told me Kelly Blue book is 26,000. Could this be legit?

Toyota in general, but more with Tacomas. They hold there value extremely well.

They have consistently been voted as one of the top 3 highest as far as retention of their value.

As well as one of the top 10 cars you should not buy used, cause of that same reason. You can get a brand new one for 26,000.

They last forever and hold their value - I had a 2002 Prerunner that a child totalled in 2011 - insurance company wrote me a check for around $9,500, no questions asked. I'm not sure about KBB on a 10 year old compact P/U being $26k.

Is it 4WD?

An 05 for that price is idiotic. I had a fully loaded 04 with around the same mileage and traded it in for 15 in 2010

I just guessed on some of the features/options it had, but assuming it's pretty loaded, then he's correct.

Ridiculous resale on those things. I wanted one, but not worth the amount you'll pay for a used one.

Seems a little high, but likely not far off.

I bought a new four door Tacoma on 12-31-12 and drove it for a year until trading it in this past February. I had it for a little over 13 months and got $500 less than the selling price on the trade in with 23K miles on it. I was astonished, to say the least.

Maybe you could try looking up the KBB price?

I would say closer to $15K. Toyotas hold their value like no other brand. Would be closer if it was maxed out.

I agree that Tacomas are as good an investment as a truck can be, but a base entry-level single cab Tacoma is some kind of plain butt-ugly.

Problem really is that they can't keep the used ones on the lot, that will drive up the demand and since it's quality, you arrive at a truck that doesn't lose much value.

I bought my second one 2 days after it had arrived at the dealership, they hadn't even put it on the website yet. I was looking at a Tundra and a Ram and I saw my Tacoma I own now.

The Toyota website tells me that you can get a 2014 double cab Tacoma for 22.5k. Probably a better deal than that '05

Absolutely but a 10 year old truck for that much? Laughable

I got my 2007 for $9000 on ebay with 98,000 miles.

A few months back I was offered 13k on a trade in.

has $147,000 miles now, but it's just as clean as it was new. I detail the engine every oil change.
