What's insane about this (if this is in fact correct) is we were tops in the league in yards giving up by safeties, all the while finishing with the #2 ranked pass defense.
quote:
Jairus Byrd
S, Saints - 6 years, $54 Million
Even last year's additions of CB Keenan Lewis and S Kenny Vaccaro, coupled with CB Corey White's emergence, couldn't cover for Malcolm Jenkins, who allowed 486 passing yards, the second most among NFL safeties. Byrd, 27, allowed just 0.23 yards per coverage snap in Buffalo last season, third best in the league. Plus, as the chart at bottom shows, the three-time Pro Bowler has a penchant for INTs.

If this secondary plays like they look on paper (which in theory, should give the front 4 even more time to disrupt pass plays...which was already an effective aspect of this defense)...
...I can't help but deduce this is a Super Bowl roster.

I can't wait to see this defense when they put it all together.

18.8% interception rate when targeted. That's almost 1 pick for every 5 targets. That's insane. This D will be legit.

He was just so bad.
That's a lot of 18.8% on that chart

He was just so bad at being a safety.
Couldn't cover
Couldn't cause turnovers
Couldn't tackle
Everything you want a safety to do, he couldn't even do one.

Actually Byrd only allowed 18.8%. All other safeties averaged over 32%. Jenkins definitely helped raise that average
