Still a pretty high intensity match. Maybe not as much as last week, but this second half will be interesting. We've had a few good chances but Sterling wasted one and Courtois came up with a couple good saves on the other. They've looked threatening a handful of times but their biggest chance was from a penalty shout on a tackle from Skrtel on Costa. Probably should've been a penalty

How does the passing look? Also, what was the closest we came to nabbing a goal? I saw we had three of our six shots from inside the box...

We've been the better side IMO... Courtois has made a couple of nice saves.. Our youngsters still need to make better decisions around the box (when to shoot or pass)... Skrtel could've been called for a penalty after watching the replay... Ref is kinda letting them play.. Lucas continues to give away free kicks in dangerous ares..

I'd like to see Mario brought on...

Who for? Maybe Gerrard? Not sure who is underperforming on that front end...

Coutinho danced through their backline and Courtois had a nice kick save... Moreno was sent through on a beautiful pass by stevie... he should have crossed it to Raheem at the back post, but took a touch and tried to shoot at point blank..

Passing's been good for the most part.

Hard to say about our best chance. Coutinho had a good look around the top of the 18 with no one in front that Courtois just caught with his foot.

Moreno had a good chance too. It was a tight angle and he got good lift and power, Courtois just was positioned very well.

Then Sterling had a nice break after a mistake from Zouma. Gerrard was making a late run uncovered that you have to think would've surely been a goal but Sterling tried to dribble around Terry and got it taken by Zouma once he recovered.

Gerrard had the one nice through ball to set up Moreno, but he doesn't have the legs for this kind of match. I'd bring Lallana on for him

Thanks TFTC/Zaba... Good info.

I always want to see Balotelli play. He seems to get open well, but between Cou and Sterling, the passes don't usually happen. I like those two as well, but they lack consistent creativity in shot creation, especially when it comes to finding open men. You can tell Balotelli gets frustrated being the only guy out there that is used to playing in a focused attack role. Even though he isn't a lone striker type, he is fantastic as an enabler... His shots are just not falling.

I just imagine how much Suarez would be chewing their asses when they try to do it all themselves

Right?

It sucks seeing a player the caliber of Balotelli throwing his hands up when he is standing/running alone, and either Sterling or Coutinho try to dribble around someone and shoot themselves. It has got to be absolutely demoralizing.

You have to think that at some point BR would address that issue... I have yet to see it. Maybe him playing Gerrard up in the top three is his way of curbing that process (or lack thereof)

Has there ever been an entire match, or even half of one, where he has looked like the future of his position for our club? The guy is

So surely this goes to extra time or PKs, right? The Cup has to move on at some point...

Well, him being surrounded by players who are sub-par in field awareness makes that happen sometimes... Hell, being down 1-0, you gotta try something.

Proud of our guys for the way we fought, but were still lacking that little bit extra that the top teams in the league have. Can't wait to see Sturridge back
