I recently started bow hunting the last few years and got my first bow last year used. Shot it about 300-400 times last year. Mostly just shooting at targets. Should I wax my strings before I start shooting again this year?

I do mine about 2 times a year. rub it on, use newspaper between fingers to rub/burn it in.

I've had the same tube of wax since my first compound in the 70's, I think,, it was a beautiful little wood browning cobra.

I wax mine every 2-3 weeks when I'm shooting a lot, but I usually shoot around 100-200 or more arrows a week which is way more than most people. Waxing prolongs the life of your string, plus it cleans it and waterproofs it. I don't think you can overwax it so you're not losing anything by doing it more often.

I do mine at the beginning of the year and any time it starts looking frizzy before then.
