Since Saturday, my DirecTV has started broadcasting everything in low definition (480p?). Other TV's in the house are fine.

The DirecTV receiver is a two-year old Genie.

Thoughts on fixing this?

I would try a reset.

and I am not sure if you tweet but tweet about it and add #customerservice plus #dish

I do this with comcast and I get my issues fixed in a few hours without much fuss.

Go into Menu...Settings...Display...TV Resolutions

Disable the options you don't want. Then, on your remote, press "format" until you get to the one you want..."1080i Stretch", for example. I'm going off memory and your menu options may be different depending upon firmware.

Reset the receiver. I had this happen a week or two ago and had to reset.

Are the other TVs using a different type of Direct receiver?

How was the weather Saturday? If the receiver reset doesn't work, check your signal strength. I have Dish, so not sure if the same applies with Direct, but some HD channels are sent over a different satellite than the SD channels. It's possible that your dish isn't receiving all of your satellite signals, so dropping to SD.

I had this happen after a lightning strike. It was my HDMI cable that seem to take the hit. New cable and HD was back to normal.
