How can Van Gaal get the Dutch rested after 120 minutes yesterday? Will they play their B teams and phone it in? or will Brazil try for an ounce of redemption?

Ok a kilo of redemption

I think both teams want to win it for various reasons. I expect a lot of B teamers, tho.

Brazil definitely will be motivated to win for the fans. The Dutch will likely play a lot of young players and attack more.

I really don't think neither the Dutch nor Argentines are especially tired after that snooze fest yesterday. Both teams played the game with minimal running.

Van Gaal thinks so. It's generally a pretty open game with a good amount of scoring.

Does it impact rankings? Is that why they still play it out? I imagine ratings are much lower than for other games (I may watch but won't pay close attention), so I don't know if there is a point.

You can just tie for 3rd...it's ok

A lot of 3rd place games are highly entertaining. It can sometimes be B squads but there is usually a good amount of offense and a lack of bunkering.

I'd scrap it, but really don't care either way...

Nah. You still get to see 2 of the world's best teams going at it with no real fear of losing. You don't get that too often.

Nobody will say "oh yeah I remember in 2014 when _____ won the 3rd place game!" in 5 years but it is still soccer. Still a month til the big leagues start back up...I'll take all the top flight action I can get

It's a good way to get the young players experience for 2018.
