330+ minutes of knockout round football and 0 goals from open play.

I'm sure Jose and Manuel are shaking in their boots.

You clearly have no idea who LvG is

The only managers in the EPL at his level are Jose and Wenger

The Dutch don't win every penalty shootout in the WC so LVG is a goat? I think he did a good job taking this Dutch team to the semifinal and within a few kicks of the final. This was not a vintage Dutch squad. Just look at their lineup. There are a few superstars, sure, but the bulk of the side would not be recognized as world-beaters. He had Ron Vlaar starting as his CB. Nobody was questioning LVG's tactics when the Dutch rolled the Spanish 5-1.

And to those of you who are laughing at the guy, just consider his track record. He won the CL with Ajax. Went to another final with Bayern. And has won numerous titles in three separate leagues. Who knows how things will work at United, but to trash the guy as a butthead or a clown is just not accurate. He's won a hell of a lot more than Rodgers, Redknapp, Martinez, or Wenger And Mourinho has credited LVG as being an large influence on his career.

ETA: Another consideration is that the Dutch team crapped out of Euro '12 and had a lot of infighting between players. LVG culled the squad and infused it with youth. The Dutch had an excellent qualifying record, winning 9 and drawing one of their ten matches. They then won 5 games in the WC and went out on pens in the semis. Not really that laughable.

Not when it counted. Dutch didn't score a goal in the last 240 minutes.

Were you paying attention to the numerous Dutch shots that hit the post? If Belgium could "easily have scored 6" on the US, then the Netherlands could "easily have scored 5" on Costa Rica.

Ehh his tactics were horrible yesterday. They played with 6 on the back line. They could have easily gone for it and won. They have the most exciting offensive player in the tournament yet fail to score in 240 minutes when it counted the most. Hopefully he thinks he can win the bpl by playing for draws. IMO he robbed us of a good final. I think the Germans will handle Argentina. Argentina will sit back and allow the Germans posession. Then Muller will nick one late in the 2nd half.

I still think he was a great hire for manu, but its not like he's just going to come in a wreck shite. Coaches make mistakes, he made a mistake on a big stage.

Always the homer. . . I'll choose to recognize LvG's Prem greatness after he's earned it. If.

I think people are overly down on this Argentina team by the way. They are excellent defensively and have some of the greatest attacking talent on the planet in Messi, Aguero, Higuain, Lavezzi, and Di Maria. They are built around the idea that they can hold opposing teams at bay while giving enough going forward for one of these guys to break through.

I think if they get their tactics right they can get at this German backline and cause a few problems. And they will make it hard for Germany offensively. So, I think to say that LVG committed an epic fail because the Dutch didn't run over Argentina is not entirely right either.

yes, because you make the same tactical decisions in a semi-final of the world cup as you do in a BPL game in October.

el oh el

You do realize he has won more titles and cups than anyone on that "I'd take" list. He has a better winning percentage than anyone on that list besides the special one.

But yes your not a homer or biased by any means

They got to the semi finals. I know the Dutch like to play total football, but like was mentioned earlier, this is not the same team as past Dutch teams. The only two players that would play on past Dutch teams would be Robben and RVP.

You just sound stupid here.

I can't think of a better final. The two best teams, and a chance for Argentina to leave Brazil with the cup.

I can see this, but I think you underestimate Argentina. They are definitely not Brazil, and with Messi anything can happen.

I don't know any Utd fan that predicts to win the Premiership this year, and most don't predict top 3 finish. I will take either top 4 or FA Cup win to satisfy me.
