What would you change first in our country as POTUS?

Make the first weekend of college football season a national holiday!

That's not really a change. I'm sure all presidents want that and try to achieve that.


I can't recall whose idea it was but I would create a sunset clause that all laws must be resigned every ~12 years (2 full senate cycles).

I'm not sure, there are so many things that need to be changed.

FAIR Tax Act would be up there as would ending the War on Drugs, Immigration Reform, ect.

We have so very very very very many problems and nearly all of them are caused by the federal government exercising powers not given to it in the Constitution.

Also, ending NAFTA while pushing for true free trade with ALL nations. No more of that preferable treatment BS that NAFTA grants.

Ending the Great Society would be another good idea. We have a real entitlement problem in this country and it has fostered an unhealthy cultural mindset.

My first item of business would be reforming the tax code.

if we could do that, it would be so much easier to get what you suggest done.

Propose to raise the retirement age and change the cost of living adjuster.

Get rid of all the Bush Tax cuts and let the top marginal and cap gain tax rates go back up to where they were under Clinton. Impose the buffet rule (millionaire tax for those making over $1M per year) for 5-7 years starting immediately.

Cut defense spending by 20%. Phase out all types of welfare except disability. No more welfare, subsidized housing, food stamps, unemployment for anyone after a set period of time to give people a chance to become productive or die. At the same time I would wipe out all felony convictions on anyone's record except for serious violent crimes. This would be necessary so those people would have a fighting chance to get a job before all welfare type payments were gone and they starved to death.

I figure the items above would fix our debt and deficit problem which is the biggest problem we have IMO.

Then I would frick with the social issues like ending the war on drugs, releasing everyone in prison for drug possession charges, gutting local police departments that exist on traffic citation revenue, hire a prosecutor with an entire task force to focus only on going after corruption in police and fire departments, stuff like that.

Executive order to set term limits for Congress.

You know those jackasses currently in office getting rich won't vote for it.

I would suggest in a reasonable manner that we raise tariffs on all imported goods that would equal the same cost to manufacture it domestically. Or have Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama thrown in GITMO for destroying this country. It would be a coin flip.
