... and probably will have his liberal card suspended.

The migrant children amassing by the thousands at the Southern border of the United States should be deported except in “extraordinary circumstances,” Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said Tuesday.

“We have an immediate humanitarian crisis that confronts this country. We also have a crisis in terms of: this country cannot absorb, nor should it, a limitless number of people, particularly children, who want to come across our border,” Hoyer said Tuesday during his weekly press briefing in the Capitol.

“Clearly we have to indicate that we cannot give these children sanctuary except under extraordinary circumstances,” he added. “Obviously we have refugee status, and protective status, for people. But just a wholesale coming over the border ... is not sustainable in the United States.”

I would not have expected that from Hoyer. Maybe he and Nancy are on the outs.

Actually lots of Ds are saying this. HRC did in an interview a couple of weeks ago and said this.

In a non election year I doubt if that would be the case especially with Steny Hoyer

Yeah sure.

These D's are the same ones (i.e. up for reelection) that are treating Obama like shite & kryptonite mixed together.

Maybe they are all racists after all. Maybe not.

As a Marylander I never liked Hoyer. However, he is right, but I am shocked he said that.

Dude Hoyer was light years better than O'Malley. O'Malley has turned Maryland into a shite hole. O'Malley helped pass statewide legislation that grants in-state tuition to illegal immigrants.

I loathe Martin O'Malley and the thought of him running for Pres makes me sick, but Maryland is FAR from a shite hole. Maryland households are the wealthiest in the country. Politics aside, Maryland has everything you would ever want in a state. Beaches, mountains, big city (and proximity to more big cities), pro sports, great food, chesapeake bay, history, I could go on and on. The fact that you call it a shite hole is

Obviously, I am biased because of my time at Annapolis...overall, it is not a bad state. A lot of merit to Maryland.

A lot of the people are kinda snooty/uppity ... in certain areas, of course.

And, of course, certain areas in Baltimore are surely to be avoided.

Other than the steamed crabs and crab cakes ... I disagree with the "great food" assertion ... but, granted, I am from South Louisiana.

oh yeah ... O'Malley sucks.

He gone.

But I do respect the fact he is taking an unpopular stand within his party.

As another Marylander, I too am shocked that Hoyer would be so vocal about the immigration crisis. As for the state of Maryland, if politics includes taxation, then I agree with your statement that it is a lovely state (vast parts of it, Baltimore and other places not included) with lots of history, a varied landscape (mountains, ocean and pretty much everything in-between) and good weather. The household wealth, however, is due to so many of said households working for the government, either directly or as contractors. As the government shutdown showed, take away the feds and traffic is hugely better, which indicates the number of people who draw a federal gov't paycheck. And much of that wealth is going to extremely high taxation rates, utility rates, gas prices, etc. There is also a huge difference (political and social) between Eastern Shore Maryland, mountainous Western Maryland, and suburban Maryland. As for the food, unless you like Old Bay and crabs, it's really not that great!

Baltimore is a very underrated city, they have done a tremendous job cleaning it up, rebuilding, and drawing the younger crowd to move down there
