My cable box gets power but it shows the wrong time and there is no picture on the TV. I called cox and they verified that they are not getting a signal from it. My modem will not turn on at all. I've tried resetting everything to no avail.

Is it possible that the modem got fried via the cable? Both devices were connected to surge protector, and no other devices were affected.

Coxsuckers can't get out here until Friday and I can't wait that long for Internet/TV

I have them for the business and I had the adapter for our cisco go out. I found another adapter I had laying around that had slightly higher amperage and I was able to use it to power the modem until they came out.

The adapter was plugged into a surge protector and it still happened. They switched out the modem and adapter at no charge.

Surge protector only help with the 110v outlet and not what can potentially come from the COX line itself. If it's not grounded well it will get you with just a nearby lightning strike. Happen to me once. I have a free cable modem for COX if you want it?

Must be it, then. My neighbors house got struck yesterday and destroyed their AC (and caught the house on fire). I put it out bc they weren't home and when I came back to my place, everything was okay except cox stuff and my AC. Just found out that the transformer, control board, and console are all toast from the lightning. Guessing My cox got fricked via the actual cable wires
