Orange is the New Black... which was better, first or second season?

I'm six episodes into season two and suddenly feel dragged down by soap opera silliness. Maybe there's only so much that can be done and the whole premise has just worn thin.

Significantly different dynamics. I prefer season one but it's more because I enjoyed watching Piper react to prison firsts.

Season 2 had some improvements, a better villain to anchor the story and had less of Jason Biggs and the outside world which was good because that always seems to drag things down, but overall Season 1 was just more enjoyable. If you're 6 episodes in you might as well finish it.

I liked the second season better because the Piper/Alex drama got old fast. Also the second season has some good flashbacks for some of the characters.

Second is better.
Less drama from Piper, better story without her being the focus.
More Pornstache would have made for a much better season 2 though.

I tend to agree that Rex is usually wrong... but this is a major opinion thread where no answer is really wrong.

Yeah, I just felt like being a dick.
In reality, I felt like the two seasons were very different. I find Piper very annoying and whiny, so in the second season I appreciated the focus being spread out to better stories.

Loved both, I enjoyed the second season more. Less Larry, Alex and Pennsatucky. Enjoyed the backstory on Marello, Tasty and Poussey. Cindy's was good too, it was nice to see one of them who didn't have some kind of redeeming factor, she is just a piece of shite. I really liked the V storyline too.
The first episode of Season 2 is terrible though, easily the worst in the series.

1st season was much better, IMO. I started getting bored with season 2 midway through it as well. The story telling of how each of the inmates landed in jail started to get old quick. The last few episodes it started picking up though. I'm hoping season 3 has a little more action.
