Anyone like when a sitcom has an episode that jumps to a different time period?

For example.. I think step by step and family matters each had a random episode set in the old west. Each character played an old west version of themselves?

Or the saved by the bell episode when they had a murder mystery to solve?

I, for one, hated when they did that.

Fringe's Brown Betty comes to mind. I hate that episode.

I haven't watched "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" in years, so I can't say if this has changed, but the "The Gang Cracks The Liberty Bell" or whatever it was called episode forced me to the change the channel half way through. I just couldn't bring myself to give a shite.

It's good when it's good, bad when it's bad. Some sitcoms do it better than others. Community is the master of them all. That 70's Show had a great episode where Eric's guardian angel (played by Newman) showed him a vision of the future...the 80's.

NewsRadio did an episode that was set on the Titanic instead of the radio station. It was a parody of Titanic the movie and was pretty good.

Phil Hartman was shot by his wife two weeks later.

Why could you give a shite about normal IASIP, but not this episode? Every episode is the same...bunch of narcissistic dumb assholes get into shenanigans. Just with an early colonial America setting.

THAT kind of thing I love, going into the past or future with the characters, but if OP means some random historical time jump, like old west etc, I always hated that.

Kind of a minor jump, but HIMYM's Robin Sparkles stuff was the GOAT.
