I was at the dentist today, and the dental hygienist told me that she thinks that kids become more expensive as they get older. I currently pay $1,000 a month for my 2-year-old's day care. Add in the cost of diapers, and I can't imagine how a teenager going to public school could cost more. I know that teenagers are more to feed and clothe and they are involved in more expensive activities, but that can't possibly cost more than what I am currently dropping on day care, right?

That is a one time expense though, and hopefully, I won't be paying for any of her other expenses at the time. That also assumes that I have a girl one day. I just have a boy now with another on the way.

And don't forget food, especially if they're boys. I have 3 teenage nephews and the grocery bill for that house .

College.

19K a semester which is just tuition.

Add: food, vehicle, medical, clothes, and entertainment.

When they exist.

From what I can tell, those little frickers are always one blink away from a serious financial burden.

I'm thinking if you don't buy them a car, there is no way that they cost more when they are teenagers (assuming public school).
