The Sammich on Maple St

Had dinner there Saturday night. I ordered the fried chicken topped with pulled pork and coleslaw. Not the most unique of the "sammiches" but it was July 4th weekend so wanted something American.
Could barely get my mouth around it. I'm a sucker for a good friend chicken sandwich and this did not disappoint. My gf got a soft shell crab special. Though small, it was perfectly battered and fried. Light enough that it didn't not mask the actual crab. We split an order of the blue crab deviled eggs. Ill give it 3rd best eggs I've had behind my moms and three muses. All the sammiches were overloaded so you definitely get a good bang for your buck. The only disappointment were the duck fat fries
They weren't cut in house. Definitely a Sysco product. Sad because I was really looking forward to these.
To add, the owner greeted everyone and checked up on us during our meal. Very friendly and offered suggestions on the food and 50 plus selection of bottled beers. Also the liquor prices are very reasonable, if not cheap. I recall JW Black $5 and Goose for $6.
2 sandwiches, two beers, 2 apps plus tip $45. Will be back.

That sandwich looks delicious . Definitely agree with you about the fries. I could be wrong but potatoes can't be that expensive to buy and cut.

Pretty sure Glassman owns this place. Did they have a scrimp poboy?

I'm a big fan of this place. Been 3-4 times as it's in my hood and really enjoyed it.
I'm not in complete agreement about the fries. While they don't have the skins on, I believe they are fresh cut and twice fried. I've really enjoyed them, though I could be wrong about fresh cut.
I've had the lobster, oyster & bacon, and pork belly "Sammich" and they were all fantastic.
Order the 1/2 lobster and an order of chicken livers and you'll think you died and went to heaven.

I went on the sunday of hogs for the cause. Basically their whole team was over there. They had literally two people working (one the entire front of house, the other making all of the sandwiches and such), and they were out of almost everything.
I need to go back.

We had the BBQ shrimp, oyster, fried lobster, and vietnamese pork belly po-boy and none of us enjoyed our meal. Deviled eggs were delicious though. We wanted to try the osso bucco and rabbit but they didn't have any.
It was pretty disappointing. However, the owner was super nice and asked us to come back and give them another chance. He made their fish and soft shell sound delicious and said he was going to put a small oyster bar in there as well.

I could also see a cook open a brown bag and pour what appeared fries in the fryer

In all honesty, frozen fries really arent that bad of an option. Getting, prepping, and storing potatoes to turn into fries is a massive undertaking for results that can be hit or miss. shite I think even Bouchon uses frozen fries now. Some of the product lines for that particular food are fantastic.

In New Orleans it is.

You ever tried to make fries on a volume basis? And have them be consistent and delicious every single time. Its not worth it.
If it is good enough for Thomas Keller, good enough for me.

It's worth it to restaurants such as Delachaise, Cowbell, and Avenue Pub and even large chains like Five Guys. It's a big difference.

To the fry comments- Did anyone not enjoy them? I thought they were delicious. Super crunchy, but with enough fleshy potato inside. The garlic mayo was a nice choice for dipping.
The lobster is lightly fried and dressed with a spicy mango cream (not very spicy).
The chicken liver app is killer. It comes with a rasberry jalapeno vinaigrette.

If it was called The Frie, maybe. As a sandwich shop with limited staff, if someone wants to use frozen fries, it doesnt really add to or detract from their main goal.
