OK guys. Been having John Deere riding mowers for 20 years. Been thinking of moving to another brand simply because I feel you can get more for the money. But change is tough. Which would you buy to cut a single acre?
Husqvarna
Or
John Deere
Husqvarna
Or
John Deere

I have that Husky lawn mower. It's been great all cutting season.

Do both have Hydrostatic? If so, get what you like better. Maybe post the specs of each.

Both have foot petal hydrostatic. JD is 42" cut. HV is 46" cut. Both 22hp. All other options are about the same.
HV is cheaper
JD has better repair network of dealers
Not sure about getting parts for the HV.

Are you mowing in tight spaces or is it fairly wide open?

I just bought a Big Dog zero turn and it has been solid so far. I did a lot of research on the residential lines of zero turns and the Hustler/Big Dog were the best built overall.

Love the Deere brand and bought a 72" John Deere commercial mower just last year myself. The fact is, in this range of machine, they're all about the same. Hell, they both have the same Briggs engine. If one tractor has a few more bells and whistles (or a wider cut like the Husky), I don't think you'd go wrong buying something other than Green.

How much are those? I would have a hard time spending too much and just getting a lawn tractor and not a zero turn.
ETA: I just saw the price. No way I would spend $2K on a lawn tractor.
You can get a Hustler Raptor SD 42" for $2900.

HV is 1599
JD is 1799
Comparable zero turn is about 3k. Tried one on in my yard. Not a lot of turns. Complete over kill. Not worth the extra cost.
Anyone have experience with Husqvarna?

I don't think you can go wrong with either. Both are great machines and will get the job done

I wouldn't buy any riding mower from lowes or home depot so between your choices, I would go HV

Husqvarna self propelled for me. Gotta have a Honda motor though.
