The FSU beat-down in the Tiger Stadium "Orange/Fog Bowl" is still my fav game I saw first hand...

I remember collecting oranges during the FSU game. Towards the end of the game, my dad let me throw a few on the field.

My older brother went to the game and the crazy thing is they obvious told people not to throw the oranges. But he told me they were letting you carry them into TS. Now what did they think would happen?

The BAMA game that year in Birmingham at Legion Field will forever be remembered. We dominated even more than the 20-10 score would suggest. Our D was dominating given up only 1 1st down for BAMA entire 1st half. Bear Bryant said "we beat them like a drum". He retired after that season.

He actually announced it the Wednesday after the LSU. I am sure he knew at this point that he was eaten up with cancer.

As a high schooler at the time it was for me. Growing up my experience early under Coach Mac was that we had some good team but we never beat ranked teams. From when I can remember starting to watch in 1973 until that year we maybe beat one team that ended the year ranked.
That changed in '82 with the Dalton/James gang and an exciting and talented defense.
We beat No. 4 Florida, finall beat the Bear and beat Fla. St.
But we also lost a couple we should not have, to our nemises John Bond and Ms. State and incredebly in Tiger Stadium to Tulane.
Went to the Orange Bowl and gave a powerful Nebraska team all they wanted. I was lucky enough to go.
One of my favorite Tiger teams.

First season I was here in LA. Sold me on the Tigers. I saw every home game in TS.
I vividly remember Willie Gault for Tenn taking the second half kickoff right up the middle for a TD. I had never seen a person that fast. He went on to compete in the Pan Am games for USA where of course he was part of a world record 4 x 100 team.
The FSU game was like none I had ever seen with the oranges pelting down out of the stands.
The Ole Miss game was cool because it was Sat night before Halloween. Mike the Cheerleader mascot pranked the crowd as good as any I have ever seen. Before the game, Mike the IV cage rolled out on the field followed by a hearse. It drove around to 20 yd line closest to the Student section and the cheerleaders solemnly pulled a casket out and set it on the field. Col Reb walked up started looking at it closely. You could have heard a pin drop in TS and all of the sudden Mike threw the coffin lid open and jumped out in a Dracula costume and chased Col Reb all over the field. Those were the good ole days!

I always thought he died of a heart attack. What kind of cancer did he have?

Yes that was an impessive victory, but what a letdown the following week against Miss State. Same type of offense (wishbone), but this time the LSU D couldn't stop it. This was the same D that had dominated Bryant's wishbone previously.

I count it as one of the most disappointing seasons that had NC potential all over it...tied Tennessee early in the season, late season dominate Bama only to lose to Miss State the next week then dominate Florida State then turn around and lose to Tulane...then the icing of the cake lose by one to Nebraska in the Orange Bowl...

Early W @ UF was a great one also; had misfortune to only attend Tu debacle, was really bitter end to regular season!

I remember the attitude of the love able under dog back then by fans. I like it better now. Sometimes overblown expectations aside.

Yeah, me too. We are now the powerhouse now like Nebraska was then.
And with that comes expectations to maintain that. Back then we were pretty happy with 8-3-1, today not so much. And I'm good with that.

James Britt's pick 6 was awesome.

The same here.
Was just a Dana Moore FG and a Reggie Regineli run on a wet field from playing for a NC.
This after coming off a 2-8-1 season

Sorry, any season that ends with a loss to Tulane should never be categorized as "magical."
