I finally got a chance to take my new out this weekend. I didn't get to do any fishing out of it this weekend but plan on fishing Sabine Lake next weekend. I had the Perception Scout 12' before and it got the job done but wasn't the easiest to fish out of. Compared to that yak the ascend is a much better "entry" level kayak.

Pros: The sit on top style gets you up out the water so you can see a bit better. I liked the "open" style of the kayak as I hated the storage in the old perception scout. The stability on this kayak is great, I'm 6' 190 and I had no problem standing up and paddling down the bayou this weekend.

Cons: The dry storage is awful. The first time I opened it after I had paddled around for a bit it was completely full of water The FS12T is pretty heavy and bulky it's pretty difficult to load and unload by one person.

Overall I like the Kayak, it's is definitely better suited for fishing. The Scout I had was a little easier to maneuver due to it being lighter and slightly narrower.

Few questions: I noticed there are two threaded bolt holes across from each other in front of the seat. (Will post pictures later) Anyone know what these are for? Also, I haven't figured out the seat is it always on the more reclined side? Lastly, what did y'all do with the dry storage? I have a peanut butter jar for my phone and stuff but curious if y'all have a fix for the dry box.

Just a little review and a few questions to those ho already have this yak. I apologize for the jibberish as I am posting from my phone down at the camp and am a few beers in.

Feedback would be much appreciated.

ETA: Anyone fished Sabine Lake up around Bridge City/Port Arthur, TX area?

By dry storage you mean the round one? I don't use that one. I use a dry bag for my phone and a dry bag for everything else stowed the the hull.

Yeah the little small one, it's far from water proof. Do you know what the screw holes in front of the seat are for?

I'm getting my yak this week

What's the difference between the FS12T and FS128T?

Besides the 150$

I was in the same boat, it was between the 12 and 128. The 128 is a bit longer and slightly wider it also had a bit more storage. The reason I went with the FS12T was due to the fact that I can still take it out by myself. I'd imagine the 128 is a bear to take out by yourself.

I couldn't justify it being worth the extra $150.

Yeah it sucks. I'm going to think of something else to do with it while still keeping the hull sealed. I was just talking to my buddy who has the new FS12T about those holes. Neither one of us know what they are for.

Yeah I got no clue what they are for I may try and look it up in the owners manual. I need to figure out how to fix the dry box.

Read the instructions? Who does that?

I don't even bother with the little small storage. I bought a dry box that I keep in the center hatch for my keys/wallet/etc. I keep my phone in a Lifeproof case with one of their floats on it just incase.

Those holes could be to mount a "dashboard"

I just got one yacking for the first time. I really don't think I could fish out of one of those.

To mount the "board" that goes across to mount all your accessories.

Flip the yak over and silicone the shite out of the seams on the scupper holes. A lot of them leak. I know mine lines up kinda poorly

Like leaks into the hull of they yak? That anit no good, I don't think mine leaked at all this weekend. I flipped it over and stood it up to drain any water in the hull and none came out.

Any other tips boats? Thanks

If you spring a leak, use this stuff. It says it's for aluminum boats, but if you read the description it works on fiberglass, plastic, and some other material.
