Had what I thought was an interesting discussion in the sticky FA thread, but it's kinda winding down because we don't wanna sidetrack that thread, so, spinoff time.

Is Bosh worth a max deal? Where does he rank in terms of the best 4s and 5s in the NBA?

I'm of the opinion that he's not quite a max player, but pretty close, and that he'll end up with a max deal from somebody by the end of this summer because there's a lot of willing buyers.

I think Bosh was the second best player in Miami, but since Wade usually thought he himself was better than LeBron, the offense rarely went through or even to Bosh.

He's as good as how his team decides to use him.

Not many people are worth a max contract but they still get them. I think he falls into this category.

As the number 1 option for a team he would easily get 22+ points and 9+ rebounds

Bosh was the heats second best option this season but they still used him as the 3rd.

He still has a elite low post game, he just rarely uses it bc the heats philosophy doesn't get him the ball on the block very often.

Instead he has been forced more to te perimeter were he has been one of the best mid range shooters of any big and has started to develop a pretty good 3 point shot.

Agree

Especially with the "easily" qualifier, disagree here. He's probably at or close to a 20/10 guy at his ceiling now, getting up in age and he doesn't bang around as much as he used to, by his own admission.

That's not on , bosh's role is how Spo and Riley want it.

This was my point from the other thread.

Given other players that have received max contracts, Bosh deserves one and will get one if he decides to leave Miami.

I said that in the other thread. Watch out for the hornet coming after you.

He will tell you that shooting 12/35 (34%) from three in '06-07' is the same as shooting 74/218 (34%) from three in 13'-14'.

hell no

he'll probably get it though since owners are stupid and have bigger holes being burning in their pockets than bum that just got a $5 spot next to a liquor store.

Based on what exactly? He's been extremely efficient in his limited role but at the same time he's benefited from having Wade and Lebron, which helps a lot.

You pointed to his three point shooting to support your claim. That's obviously not evidence he's better today. You're going to need more than that.

He was a 20/10 player before joining the Heat. With the Heat he has been in a limited role, as you said. His production has gone down because of it.

If anything, playing with Bron and Wade has hurt his game. I don't think that's up for debate...

In 07-08, Bosh shot 148/360 inbetween 16 feet and the 3 point line. That is 41%.

Last season, bosh shot 153/318 (48%) from that same distance.

His offensive game has expanded, from both mid range & 3 point.

I'll also say though, if max is like $25mil/year for him, he's not worth that.

He's not eligible for that type of max deal, unless I'm mistaken.

Anyone who thinks bosh is better now than when he got to Miami is an idiot.
