Thinking about installing this but I don't know anyone who's actually done it before. Is it worth the money?
I would buy and install it myself .

Yes, but it could interfere with your wifi. So I've heard.

I know radiant barrier works. Installed in my parents house and it has kept the upstairs cooler in the summer. It was installed when they had the roof replaced.

Family member has it in her roof, some sort of radiant barrier or foil or something. Anyway, phone reception blows bc of it. I barely get anything on my verizon phone. That's in Houston fwiw

We. Bought a house with it already. fricking rocks. No WiFi and cell phone works great. Awesome investment. House is 60 years old and single pane windows and my electricity bill is pretty damn good. I did rrinsulate the walls though.

It works been using it on rental homes or flips since I tried it in 2001.

Good reduces heat

Bad does reduce life of shingles slightly but benefits offset the reduced life of your shingles.

DuPont and other companies does event make a weather barrier with radiant barrier to go behind the bricks. You need that gap for it to work. Does help reduce heat in a home and cost is not that much more.

You will get some improvement .

Unless you do the the rafters, you'll still have significant sources of heat in the attic. Foil does have a pretty negative impact on shingles and roof decking.

Foam is the way to go if you're going to be in the house awhile.

How long does it take to damage shingles if it's a brand new roof?

I want to do this too but seems like it would be a pain in the arse in my attic, with the pitch and angles...anybody know somebody in the BR area that installs this on the side?

What I'm hearing is it works but no one has any before or after numbers to prove it. My son has it. No rf interference but his attic temp is the same as mine. I don't have it. I'd have to see before and after elect. bills with no other changes before I get all froggy on this stuff.

Many shingle warranties will be void if you use the foil. Some of them will be void for foam, too.

I don't know the answer, but double check your warranty.
