what president would you put in his place and why?

I would replace Lincoln with Millard Fillmore because he was the first president to install a bathtub in the white house.

A bit OT but I remember in one of my old US history courses the teacher bringing up the fact that Thomas Jefferson was hated during some of his term as president. I think it was related to his embargo of France and Britain, which only crippled us economically, specifically the New England area.
I think the teacher brought it up to just note the difference between how someone may be perceived historically vs in their contemporary day (hated in his day vs on Mount Rushmore later)
etc.

Easily switch Teddy with Reagan.
