Does this place live up to the hype? Me and some friends are planning on checking it out.

It's great if you like getting drunk at 8 am.

Wife and I went there after visiting her father who was evacuated from Slidell to a nursing home in Ville Platte right after Katrina. It was the last time we saw him alive and we knew it would be.

It was easy to drink and even dance at 8 am.

It's one of those "have to do at least once in your life" kinda places. Cajun band, live broadcast from a local am station, locals mixed in with people from all over-the state, the country, & the world.

How many people are generally at this place on a Saturday morning? And are they all shite faced from the night before or just getting an early start?

The time we went there was a Canadian film crew there doing a documentary.

Heck of a coincidence -- I just happened to be wearing my Fred's t-shirt when I came across this thread. Below is a pic of the back of the shirt




I have many fond memories of Fred's as well as the Purple Peacock in Eunice.
