Who is gonna surprise everyone this year? There isn't a clear stud going into this season for the first time in a while. Will Hunter make the next step on his way to Mingo territory? Thoughts?

Hunter will be the best player, but I think Herron is going to surprise some people.

Hunter will be our beast until teams start doubling him and then it will free up Rasco.

If Valentine is in shape and ready to go between the ears, it's him.

So much more talented than any other tackle on the roster.

I'm looking for Hunter to have a breakout year and become a 1st round pick... He has the athletic ability, length, and speed to be a 4-3 rush DE in the NFL.

My only concern with the DL is at the DT positions... I think Lacoutre will be a solid player for us. If he can be be a consistent run stopper and deflect some passes (he's like 6'5) I'll be happy. Q. Thomas is my biggest question mark....Usually guys that don't start until their 4th year aren't going to be dominant. Hopefully I'm wrong and he shines this season but honestly I would be happy with him just being an average LSU DT. Especially if Bain and Gilmore can come in and contribute (which they will have to if we want to win it all this year)

Bain and Gilmore have to be in the game to keep Lacoutre and Q. Thomas fresh.. If we can rotate those 4 guys at the DT position and none of them stick out as a weak link, we will be fine... And if you add in Herron (idk if he'll actually play DT or DE) we will finally have back the depth we need.

And a possible frosh (Valentine) could come in and contribute if he doesn't show up in August at 330 lbs....

Moffit said Quentin Thomas is about to get paid big time this season. Don't worry about them Breaux Bridge boys, they been Hungry since HIGHSCHOOL and they ready to eat

I've never been big on Rasco personally. I'm not downing him, but I feel like he under performed last year. Now Danielle Hunter, I'm happy to have him back.

I agree based on what you said, but it ain't happening this year. It will be awesome if I'm wrong but he's got a lot of bad weight to shed and technique to learn. Tape doesn't lie, and qualifying issues have him behind the learning curve.

To answer the OP, Hunter is going to be talked about on ESPN as the next big thing and Quay Bain will earn himself an NFL paycheck this year.

Bower, Bain, Rasco and Hunter just sounds like a nasty D Line.

I agree, Bain.

Possibly Lewis Neal, physically I think he came in ahead of the curve last year. Where he's at with the intricacies of the DE position, I don't know.

I keep hoping Gilmore, but I think just like Valentine he's got a ways to go. He would be the biggest, if not most welcome, surprise to me.

I'd be surprised if he isn't redshirted.

Gilmore will be ok, I think Herron can be used at DT and DE so he will be awesome for the rotation
