i remember days we'd load up 3 120 qt ice chests full of those tasty little things. prob averaged 3 or 4 pounds. i'd much rather hit up a weed patch for chickens than skip from rig to rig for snapper and amberjack. better fight, better taste, and more fun.

with all the sargassum coming up in grand isle, have people been hitting the chickens pretty hard this year?

we'd sometimes bring little quantum spin rods for bluegill and use #2 line. have hourly competition who could catch the biggest. winner got 100 dollars or whatever.

What's the best way to catch them? We caught them while trolling. I'd like to catch some on light tackle

bright touts tipped with shrimp or not always works for me. work the bait like you want to keep them from hitting it, slow retrive turns them off

Killed them out of Grand Isle one day back in about 1996. Caught some nice bulls as well. Fun as hell.

If you're a dumbass maybe. Get a big bucket/small drum. Swing the chicken dolphin into bucket. Profit. No mess.

I mean, I keep goo too, but you can't keep goo and then make fun of someone for keeping a rainbow runner, know what I mean?
