The number of Americans 16 and older who did not participate in the labor force climbed to a record high of 92,120,000 in June, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

This means that there were 92,120,000 Americans 16 and older who not only did not have a job, but did not actively seek one in the last four weeks.

That is up 111,000 from the 92,009,000 Americans who were not participating in the labor force in April.

One thing I do not understand is why on the one hand, democrats slam GOP obstructionism, and attribute it to the lack of economic progress, but on the other hand, attribute all good news to the white house.

So which is it?

Anything that makes the boy king look good they like. Anything that makes him look bad it's somebody else's fault.

Do you think they made up the number? Does that mean I can brush aside the 288k?

The Dems own the keys to the bus. We're just along for the ride with no input as to where we are going.

What? There have been months in the Obama tenure when 300k+ jobs have been added in a month. If the economy is fine and dandy, why are Americans still so pessimistic about it?

That was easily done in the other thread.

Full time jobs fell 500k while part-time jobs increased 800k. There's your best job growth since whenever

While its def a plus for what we've seen in the last 5yrs, you have to admit 250k, or whatever the number was, of it being part-time workers is concerning.

Wait, so all Americans 16 and older? What is that number minus the elderly, handicapped, disabled, and homemakers? Oh and the lazy with their hands out?

It was 800k. Of the 288k new jobs. Think about that for a second.
