What happens if either Jennings or Harris go down with an injury in camp or early in the season. If we have just one QB that is viable and his is a dual threat QB, does that change the offense considerably?

I guess that we were in that situation last year, but Rivers and Jennings were behind Mett and there was at least some hope of having a decent QB back there.

Yes, this is a hypothetical and I will get yelled at for bringing it up and someone will say it is bad luck, but IF an injury happens to either one, will that change how we go forward with the one who is healthy? Will we try and protect him more and limit what he does? Or, just go with it?

According Les' latest troll job, Magee is an option.

if 2 qbs go down it would be a total shite show regardless of who ends up taking the snaps. Irrelevant really.

no, in fact he'll probably become more of a dual threat. QB's typically get hurt in the pocket, not on the move.

Yeah, I know, but I am talking about if ONE QB goes down. Will the coaches, knowing that there is no one behind him, then really pull back on the offense?

I forgot about Bolden. I guess that he would move back over the QB.

Most teams would be in big trouble if their number 1 went down. That said were in better shape than 2009-2011 so stop being a vag ready

Jared Foster will take over all QB duties if those two go down

I would say the season would be lost anyway.

If we lost our 1 and 2 it would be tough. There is a reason the Rettig and Rivers had fallen down on the depth chart.

And there it is.

I don't know that we are in great shape considering our QB situation is a Soph with one start where he looked pretty bad and a true freshman QB who has never taken a snap, but go ahead.

Would bama or Ohio State be any better off if their one and two went down? Unless there's a previously unrecognized gem buried on the depth chart its an issue for every team out there.

Run the option with Magee and play defense. I think Les might like the opportunity to do this. Hopefully, it never comes down to this, but I wouldn't mind seeing it against a lesser opponent when we are up by 28 pts.

Bergeron was first team all conference in JUCO - in the same conference Mettenberger came from.

The discussion is who of the two should start right? Add in we finally have a guy that can get a QB ready.
So either we have none or are in great shape. Either way the OP is being a vag b/c if we have none it won't matter

And you aren't able to comprehend what I am saying, obviously.

I am not talking about what happens if we lose TWO.

I am asking what happens if we lose ONE and there is no good 3rd option. Will the coaches then cut back the offense in trying to protect the ONE good option that we have?

Knowing that a QB does not have a solid backup can cause coaches to be more cautious in how they call the game. Keeping max protect in more of the time. Rolling him out where he is away from defenders. Not having him run as much. Stuff like that. Just wondering how a coach would change the game plan knowing that if the one guy they have goes down, the season is over.

You keep missing the point. Obviously if both go down, it doesn't matter anymore. I am wondering how ONE going down might change the playcalling.

How many times are we going to have this dumb thread before football season starts?

How many teams can you name that have 3 viable options at QB and could have a successful season if their top 2 QBs were injured at any point in the season?

Exactly. How much experience does Alabama's number three QB have in his back pocket? The guy didn't take 200 snaps last year getting prepared to sit at number three on their depth chart. Injuries are a crap shoot for every team in the country.
