Seriously, I can't wait for this guy and Gus Johnson to be the lead broadcast team in 2018.

They have to find better soccer broadcasters between now and 2018. Gus and Wynalda are seriously seriously awful.

I can't believe they have the stones to roll Gus out there to shout his way through the CL final.

Eric Wynalda genuinely believes he knows more about football and our current roster than Jurgen Klinsmann, I find that mildly amusing.

Idiot.

Wynalda is my least favorite person in US Soccer.

For all the shite Alexi Lalas gets, just be glad that Wynalda hasn't had a meaningful job in the development of soccer in America outside of commentating on the Champion's League Final.

GMs to Wynalda:

There's a reason why nobody wants to give you a managerial position, Eric.

You're an a-hole.

Eric Wynalda is a single embodiment of why the "average American" doesn't get into soccer. What a whiny count.

there needs to be a serious and sincere petition to get wynalda out. I'm convinced Gus could be passable with a decent sidekick who fed him decent talking points.

Jurgen Klinsmann is one of the best things that's happened to U.S. soccer. Wynalda is a pompous jerk.

Yeah, Lalas is definitely not my favorite, but I'll listen to that ginger for hours before Wynalda's smart arse.

When Harkes was banging Wynalda's wife, do you think he made her call him "striker?"

I cannot stand having Wynalda associated with soccer period, much less the USMNT. The thought of him being on the broadcast of some of the biggest future fixtures makes me want to vomit.

As if I wasn't already sad enough, the fact that the next time I watch the USMNT in the World Cup, it will be on FOX, with Wynalda and Johnson and not on ESPN with Ian Darke makes me want to cry.

Not going to watch that trash.. Fox for the world cup will be disappointing unless they get some new announcers. UNIVISION

Just listened to the interview. It's as if he didn't realize our "super conservative" style was one Wondo toe poke from winning.

How can he be so pissed about a strategy that was very nearly successful?

I agree with his belief that a defensive mentality can be a second-best mentality. Judging by our strategy yesterday, it looked like Klinsmann believed we were the second best team (and therefore would have to defend for 120 minutes). I think that attitude can give not only a bigger portion of possession and chances to the other team, but also confidence.

I think we showed in the final 15 that we had ample ability to get forward and create chances. I just wish we would've done that from the first minute instead of the 106th.

All that said, I admit I know much, much less about soccer and the USMNT than Klinsmann.

The fact that it wasn't successful?. . .

And, for the record, I'm definitely not pissed like Wynalda. I'm very satisfied with our team, our coach, and our performance in this WC. But I can see where he's coming from.

Belgium is a team that scored/won late in just about every game they played.

How much do you think a change in strategy would have led to us retaining and possessing the ball? Sometimes against a better team you don't have a choice. And yes beligum is a better team than us.
