It's very simple. Republicans will see this crisis and say we need stricter border control. Democrats will be able to paint them as racists for the midterm elections. For the future, Obama legalizes all of those he can, the democrats get them IDs to vote and as many free benefits as they can dredge up for them to get them on the dole as quickly as possible once they've been dumped in "red" or "purple" states and congressional districts. Once they have been set up to vote, all of those areas go blue.
