What are your thougths on bringing species back from extinction through the use of recovered DNA or genetic engineering?....

it is just a matter of time before this is possible...

would it matter whether man was responsible for the extinction in the first place?....

I was just thinking earlier about how cool it would be to see a wooly mammoth or a sabre toothed tiger....

EAT: and I hear passenger pigeon was some damn good eating, too...

I'd love to hunt some prehistoric game. Or eat it. Might get some new and tasty dishes out of this.

Wooly mammoth

Sabre tooth

Dire wolf

I think they could just about do it now, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere deep in the jungle in a secret lab. I think it's called the Humanzee.

Hate to burst your bubbles but DNA does not survive that long and we cannot replicate it except through some Matrix like virtual reality.

That's just ignorant.

Prehistoric DNA doesn't exist in today's world. It's has decayed far past recognizable many many many centuries ago

interesting...if hair survives, can we not get enough of a signature to replicate that?.....

seems to me that the genes would never totally dissappear, but would be passed on to other creatures via interbreeding....if we knew which ones we needed, we could just extract them out of some living creature...

WE have used so much DDT I would just love to see Ligtning Bugs where I used to. I know they are around in some areas but they are gone in NW Florida on the bayous. They spray for insects and kill this species.

Yea, I would like to see Lightning Bugs again, to show my Grandson their beauty.
