Must say, the over 30 group exceeded expectations. They played great and I was proud to watch what they showed the world:

Howard - Expected great things. Didn't let us down. Heart and soul of the entire team. Will miss him next World Cup (if he doesn't want to play) but know Guzan can fill his shoes with no drop off

Beckerman - Totally wasn't expecting his performance. He played wayyyy beyond expectations and wished he was part of Belgium game plan. He's a guy you root for cause he plays hard and hustles his arse off. Loved watching what he did for team USA.

Jones - What can i say? This guy played beyond himself and really was a force. I only wish he was younger because the light just went on for him and i think he's got a few good years left him but not enough, i fear, for 2018.

Beasley - Never in a million years would i think that he would have 4 world cups to Donvan's 3. That being said, he played amazing. Those who know what they are watching will agree that the amount of field that he covered and his D were very impressive. We talked about him being the only option Jurgen had at that spot. With his performance, he was by far the best option. He went out with his heart on the field. Great World Cup for him.

Dempsey - Performed as well as to be expected. The only one of the old guys i think could still be a factor in 2018. The Jozy injury changed his role a bit which affected him. But scored two nice goals and was our best option. Captain America started off hot and cooled off a bit but overall a solid performance.

Overall, I think this World Cup was everything we could have expected. Lots of promise with the future of this team and I honestly think Jurgen is moving this team in the right direction. Just think, there is some 18 year old kid out there who could be a huge factor in 2018. He wanted a young team and he laid the ground work with this performance.

Very proud of the Yanks. We showed well and we WILL be a force soon, VERY soon.

Dempsey was put into a role to help the squad. He inst a true 9. He did well for what he is but we just didnt have a true 9 to back up Altidore.

He doesnt have the first touch and hold up play in a contested area to create chances like Jozy does.

I kinda wonder if Howard will retire from international play after this World Cup. Maybe he decides to give another Gold Cup a try but not sure if he wants to travel that much for qualifiers at his age and with having a family.

This is true.

But he appeared as if he just didn't care.

Dont disagree about Dempsey but if you would have told me before the World Cup started that he would have scored two goals, i would have been pleased with that outcome. He was playing out of position and it showed.

Would like to throw a special shoutout to Beckerman and Beasley. Did what everyone (including myself) didn't think they could do (Beckerman at that level and Beasley at left back)
