I've got common bermuda creeping in in other parts of the yard and it isn't the same. This stuff is so thick it's like walking on carpet. There are obvious outlines from where it was laid down as sod.

It may not be common but it's some kind of Bermuda

That second picture looks more like zoysia to me.

Zoysia in my semi-professional opinion.

Pointed tip. Can't tell if the leaves are coming up at a 90* angle off the stolon though. Both those are pretty dead give aways.

I don't know, it could be a bermuda.

Is the area shaded where the sod was laid?

That second picture does look more like zoysia. Does it have a hairy ligule like this?

when I was at LSU we had a turfgrass intramural softball team named the hairy ligules. We had to explain to the Rec center what it meant before we were allowed to use the team name.

I got my masters in turf management and agronomy. I make better money in row crops so went that route. I do consult for some local schools and golf courses for a side job.

Very nice. I'm finishing my thesis research and getting out of here in December (hopefully).
