Will the fact Nadal has trouble winning on grass affect his legacy?

I know he has taken Wimbledon twice but you look at other guys like Federer and Sampras who won over 5 times and multiple times in a row, and since Wimbledon is pretty much the most prestigious tournament like the Masters is he needs to win more there IMO to be in the GOAT conversation.

What does the script say about his future performances at majors?

That he at least has a career slam which is more than what Sampras can say

I am a bit of a Fedtard and really don't like Nadal for a lot of reasons. But, if he gets to 18, even with 10 RG, he is GOAT.

Fed has one French Open, nothing on the head-to-head, has lost Aussie and Wimbledon matches to Rafa, lost to young Rafa during Fed's prime, etc, etc. Really, all Fed fans have is that a decent amount of those head-to-heads were on clay and Rafa just didn't advance far enough in some Wimbledons and US Opens to lose to Fed (which is a big assumption to have in the first place).

His domination of the French Open does way more for him then anything else he may do at Wimbledon.

His legacy is intact.

I think his dominance on clay will help make up for it. If he hadn't won Wimbledon at all maybe, but he's won twice and even beat Federer there.

Trouble. Winning. On. Grass. AYFKM?

He won Wimbledon twice and made it to five straight finals.

Do you think if a player dominated Wimbledon like Nadal does the French Open that the player would be considered GOAT?

Well Wasn't Fed clearly #2 on Clay while Fed was dominating the other surfaces?

Depends on what else he does. But nobody has dominated an event like Rafa has dominated the French.

We value Wimbledon more because of history/prestige/mystique, but grass is a fluky arse surface. Guys like Roddick or Ivanisevic could easily have four Wimbledons if things had broken the right way. Doesn't mean they are all time greats. Wimbledon shouldn't carry that much more value when evaluating greatness. Heck, I think you can argue the hard court tournaments should carry the most weight because it is the most neutral surface.

Fed was dominating the other surfaces when Nadal was a teenager. And even then, only when he wasn't playing Nadal.

Grass is also a novelty surface. It's sort of a gimmick.

They play zero Masters events on grass. Hell, they don't even play a 500 event on grass. Not even a single freaking 500 event.

Professional tennis is 60% hard courts, 35% clay courts, and 5% grass courts. And if were to tally up available points, 5% is probably being generous.

He is definitely GOAT on clay imo. As far as overall, I don't think he is, but he has an argument.
