More of a Hobby... Aquarium Question

I know this is more of a hobby question...but I've got an older 20 gallon aquarium that I've not cleaned in a long time. It's dry...no water in it..and it last held water back in April so no leaks...problem is it had an algae bloom on it...and now that it's dry (no fish or plants of course) there's these small films of algae residue everywhere...what's the OB recommend to clean the aquarium with that I won't have to be worried about be toxic to fish later when I set it up?

I would fill it with water and let it sit for a day or so to soften the algae. Then scrape with one of those magnet things or aquarium scraper. I've even used windex before...just make sure you rinse really well afterwards.

Bleach. Then clean with a rag. Rinse thoroughly. Fill with water. Put a double dose of water conditioner and a circulating pump. Let sit for a few days.
Should be fine after that.
ETA: oh yeah, remove the water and add fresh, treated water again after.

I have used vinegar and muriatic acid to clean an aquarium and get the algae and calcium deposits off of the aquarium and equipment. You just need to cut it with water when applying it.

as crazy as it may sound, muriatic acid mixed 1 parts muriatic acide: 4 parts water will take care of it and after won't harm anything later. I use it to clean my pumps in my reef aquarium, works like a charm!

If it's just algae, bleach. If it's algae and hard water deposits, muriatic acid.

Are you sure it has no leaks? An older tank that has dried will often leak.
