So I stop at cracker barrel in Gonzales today after bringing my daughter to her follow up after getting tubes in her ears last week (wife was in her car with the baby since I met them from work). I start the pump and run inside to get a drink. Come back out and while I wait for the pump to stop I open my console to throw the change in my change bag and I hear someone pull on my door handle on the passenger side which was still locked. Without thinking I grab my .45 that is right next to my change bag. While I'm drawing I look to see who/what it was and its a straggly looking obvious druggie so I continue my draw and line him up. He sees whats about to happen and looks to soil himself badly and says "oh, this looks like my buddy's truck" and hauls arse a couple pumps over and jumps in a beat up old black f250, I have a new white f150.
If my door hadn't been locked, I very well could be "speaking with my lawyer" right now. I am VERY aware of my surroundings and this is proof that it only takes a second of dropping your guard for someone to come up on you

I did something similar but drove off with the pump still in my vehicle

Luckily I was turning left and it pooped off without ripping off the pump

Probably was an innocent mistake no matter how shitty the dude looked. I've pulled the handle on a white car before thinking it was mine. Mine is black. Glad nobody blew my brains out.

I'm of the opinion that the odds of somebody trying something in broad daylight at a busy gas station are very low.

Sounds like poor stoners need to be more aware when walking up to a vehicle at a gas station.

i live in the outside a of small town. We have an old country store a mile from me. Friday 3 black males bust inside the store firing ar15 in the air demanding money. 2 18-20 year old girls behind register. They take money and leave no one hurt thank goodness... shortly after they robbed 2 other small stores. Cops caught them a little later. Just goes to show you that you never know. Always be aware of your surroundings

I've had more conflicts and confrontations at busy gas stations in broad daylight than any other place.

Aggressive beggars like to get up on you real close and surprise you.

I49 is the worst for this shite.

Nice job man. Thank god it didn't turn out bad for all parties. Maybe the stoner learns a lesson, I doubt it though.

That post-adrenaline drop-off is the worst.

Having trouble phrasing my congrats response properly so I'll just say

But while the confrontation is happening, I find everything gets very quiet and still. Like its easy to focus.

(Never been in a combat situation so I don't know if it's like that there-doubtful)

I think the big game hunting experience can be similar.
