My girlfriend and I just got bikes (Giant Escape 2, nothing fancy). She has a girl triathlon coming up in a few months and I told her I'd help her train by riding with her. I just took mine on my first decent ride (10 miles). What are some good smooth routes to take throughout the city? I live in mid city and want to ride frequently and be able to take her on rides without beating us to death.
TIA
TIA

The Bike trail around lake Pontchartrain.

With the river levee trail under construction, the Wisner trail to the lakefront is your best bet locally.
There are bike lanes all over town now, but you still have to be careful in town, makes it tough to train hard that way.
If you want to drive the bikes across the lake, the trace is great.
