Wha? It's a known fact that France mines African countries for iron ore, gold, and soccer talent.

ETA: That was a big thing back in France after the 2010 Cup when the team blew up. There were calls for "actual" Frenchmen on the team and "players who knew what it meant to be French".

That's not really accurate. The current iteration of the French team only Evra is born outside the country. In earlier iterations the players were either from French territories, France itself, or were born abroad and moved to France at a young age. The fact remains that French team in your picture had five of the best players to ever play the game, in Henry, Makelele, Zidane, Thuram and Vieira. The French youth system was responsible for developing those talents, and are responsible for stocking the national teams of numerous Francophone countries in Africa. The French youth system is one of the best in the world. On par with the Germans and the Spanish.

Early reports suggest France will forfeit to Germany in the event Germany advances past Algeria.

And to add to everything crazy4lsu said.... France controlled a lot of Africa up the the late 60s. They had most of North and West Africa back then. And that is a huge reason why there are so many African immigrants in France today. 42% of all of Frances immigrants come from Africa. And that has been going on since the late 60s and early 70s. They have around 6million African born citizens in France now, which is about 10% of the population. And its still growing.

I would be more than happy to take a lineup like that if it got us a cup.

People act like we are the only ones. Prominent political figures in France were outspoken about the lack of french players. Thuram has basically dedicated his life after football to racism because their own countrymen hated them.

Europe is bad, like really bad. You think white Americans are racist? Then move to Europe.

Yeah it is bad. Think about what it's like for a black player at Lazio or worse one of the Eastern European clubs.

How many are actually ethnic French? There used to be a time when national teams actually meant something and represented distinct nations. Now most are filled with foreigners. Germany never allowed non Germans on their team back in the day, now look at them. Take a look at the Swiss team, nothing but a bunch of players originating from Albania and the fmr. Yugoslavia.

This doesn't mean anything. Are you going to differentiate between French with Celtic, Roman, and Germanic descent? What you are asking is how many are white, for what ultimate point, I don't know. FWIW, the French have a long history if immigration in soccer. Just Fontaine was born in Morocco. Michel Platini was the son of Italian immigrants. Eric Cantona was the son of Catalan immigrants. Robert Pires's parents were from Portugal.

And the reason national teams are now multicultural is globalization, and now other reason. If you have a problem with it, then you have a problem with capitalism.
