This is unsettling because I like the Front office more than I do the coaching staff...but the coaching staff is correct here, IMO.

Saturday night in fact -- when Chronicle beat writer Jose de Jesus Ortiz lets loose with some tweets that show everything's not quite as harmonious inside the organization as Sports Illustrated would have everybody believe. The clubhouse isn't happy. The coaches want to win. They're upset by quotes in the story. They think the story's a slap in the face. They're dismayed that the front office won't promote certain players from the minors who they believe would be huge improvements over current players on the roster and who would lead the team to more victories.

Taijuan Walker starts tonight for the Mariners,

His last start was a complete game shout 8ks and 4hits against no other that re OKC Redhawks(AstrosAAA).

But that team was without Springleton!!

I know they faced him last year I'm searching on my phone to see what they did.

*also did not know walker is from shreveport

According to Jose deJesus Ortiz on Twitter
quote:

If #Astros wanted to win now & Jim Crane asked Bo & coaches instead of GM, Domingo Santana would be in RF, Springer in LF, Folty in pen.

quote:

Quite simply, the Astros are at a stage where front office celebrates a magazine buying them more time and predicting 3 more losing seasons.

quote:

Ultimately Crane & partners must decide when to demand results from front office. Imagine NY or L.A. trying to sell 3 more losing years.

I will say I agree with this. What does everyone else think?

Between 2 starts: 10 IP, 1.8 ERA, 0.9 WHIP (7H/2BB), 10 K

He has frontline stuff, but he's 21 and inconsistent.

From what I gathered, Ortiz is also a Dodgers fan and likes to stir up shite amongst Houston fans.

So basically, Ortiz is the Chronicle's version of Ryno.

So take whatever you read from him with a grain of salt.

In that case

I miss Richard Justice writing about the Astros for the Chronicle. Now he is a MLB guy.

Yup. I have more confidence in Luhnow than Bo. If Porter is so concerned about winning games he can start doing things like not have fricking Jerome Williams close

That's assuming the situation is how Ortiz presented it

Two years ago, the Houston Astros constructed "Ground Control"—a built-from-scratch online database for the private use of the Astros front office. It is by all accounts a marvel, an easy-to-use interface giving executives instant access to player statistics, video, and communications with other front offices around baseball. All it needs, apparently, is a little better password protection.

Documents purportedly taken from Ground Control and showing 10 months' worth of the Astros' internal trade chatter have been posted online at Anonbin, a site where users can anonymously share hacked or leaked information. Found below, they contain the Astros front office's communications regarding trade overtures to and from other teams, as well as negotiations—a few of which actually led to trades. You will find heavy efforts to get a big haul for Bud Norris at last year's trade deadline (before settling for very little), pushes to acquire touted young talents like Dylan Bundy and Gregory Polanco, and even evidence the Astros rejected out of hand a blockbuster deal that could have brought them Giancarlo Stanton.

Well, this is interesting as well.

I wonder who is leaking all of this....

LINK

quote:

The Miami Marlins seem to have been willing to trade Giancarlo Stanton for prospects Carlos Correa and George Springer.

No thanks.

quote:

[Luhnow] talked to [Marlins GM Dan Jennings] and said we had interest in Stanton. DJ said he doesn't think he'll trade Stanton and the only deal he could think of from us that would work would be Springer and Correa. JL said that would not work. JL posited a deal around Cosart and Deshields.

quote:

id taht we would do Norris = Veras for Castellanos and that we would consider Norris for Jake Thompson.

quote:

Rizzo called [Luhnow] to inquire on Harrell. JL told him we would still need a headliner like Giolito because we still value Harrell highly. Rizzo did not respond immediately.

Interesting stuff, no doubt.

They missed on moving Harrell. But, I'm sure clubs miss all the time. Not just the Astros.

There's not alot in there that I can say that they SHOULD have done. Nothing earth shattering anyway.

No way I would have done Stanton. Trade Correa and Springer to Miami for a guy that will more than likely go to a big market team next year.

No thanks.

Funny the Rangers asked about both Castro and singleton together.

I hope some of the players don't get their panties in was cause their name was brought up for trades

Yeah Pittsburghs offerings on Norris definitely seem better than what we got.
