Is a 911 something that can be used as a Daily driver?

Got a colleague who does it everyday. I wouldn't drag my tired arse out of one on Mondays I can tell you that.

Of course, especially the newer ones.

Older models were beasts to drive in the rain, but the last two generations are much softer and more forgiving. Really only the GT3 and GT2 aren't daily drivers now.

No, but my panamera is, and it's roomy enough for rolled up carpet in the back.

911 or nothing.

What's the good one to get? There like 60 variations of just the 911

The most desirable is a 1995-1998 which was the 993 model. It was the last of the air cooled. If you get a 4S model it has the same arse as the 911 Turbo of that era which was damned sexy. I wouldn't use one for a daily driver though. I'd get a newer model.

Test drove a 2014 Boxster S on Saturday. Great performance and fun to drive with the top down. You know when you buy one of these it is not "practical" in the sense of carrying people or cargo, but that's the point isn't it?

I don't think an air cooled model would be a good daily driver for one thing they are old now. Either the 996 or 997 can be driven daily as they, are efficient and reliable with a few caveats. Access in and out is not the easiest as they are low, the 996 model I owned rode hard, real hard, but my current one has the ability to select sport or regular mode and is just right. I have the 997 C4S variant which is the turbo body and all wheel drive without turbo motor. It's does look great and has the larger engine, but if I had a do over I would choose a straight S, the all wheel drive numbs down the handling and is not really needed in the south. Must have options, sport exhaust, bose stereo, heated seats,, multifunction steering wheel, PDK transmission, sport mode, bluetooth, and whatever from a long list Porsche offers. Do the regular maintenance and drive it like you stole it.

I have a 2003 996 4S. Awesome car. It could be a daily driver...but my truck is my daily driver.

Nice machine, does it have the sport suspension? I had an '03 cab and loved it.

Fun to drive on weekends/ when weather is nice etc, but as a daily driver I think it's to small and I don't like being that low to the ground for a daily driver. Additionally it doesn't have the same level of comfort or amenities that a luxury sedan does. If not getting convertible look at the panamere. Just my 2 cents, fwiw we have 2 a carrera and a boxter both convertibles.

What is your daily driver, then?

I'm looking at the new Targa -
