About to put a pool in. I thought salt water was the thing to do nowadays. But now I'm hearing people having problems with it being rough on equipment and whatnot. What says ye pool sages of the OT?

I much prefer saltwater, but I don't have to maintain my pool.

My father-in-law turned his pool to salt water 10 years ago. I never hear him complain about maintenance, and his pool is as gentle as bath water.

I've got a slough on the back of my property. I'll just use it for my natural pool

Saltwater FTW. My parents have chlorine and my SO's parents have copper ion. I much prefer the latter. It also seems like way less upkeep.

salt is nice, but eventually that chlorinating cell goes kapoot and it is expensive to replace.

In my case, the company that made the cell was some australian company that went belly up and I would have had to replace the entire system for around 1.5K.

That is about 10 years worth of chlorine tablets so I just do that now and my pool chemical levels are great!

i have salt. I have not had problems, but I did have to change out my salt cell(which took about 5 minutes). I was under the impression those cells lasted longer than it did.

This is what we have currently. I guess I could just build my outdoor kitchen around it
