My pops loves Italian sausage with peppers and onions. Lately, I've been cooking that dish for him (I dont cook much btw) when he comes to town (houston).

I think I have the onions and peppers down, but can't find good sausage. I tried the local Krogers/Randalls/HEB, but all rather mild.

Any suggestions on where to get good Italian sausage for home cooking?
Preferably in Houston, but the I10 corridor is fair game from Nola to Hou as long as it's not far from interstate.

TIA

Anthony's Deli in Baton Rouge. On Florida Blvd. Best in BR.

Do not fear the Johnsonville. They are pretty good. Nothing like home-made (my BIL makes his own), but not bad when in Houston and you can't get anything else.

Very familiar with Anthony's from my days in BR as I lived in Broadmoor briefly. Never went in, but I know the location. Pops lives in BR, so I will get him to pick up. Thx.

Yes. Building is going up across the street from Brewbachers. A shame to lose the old-world ambiance of the Florida shop. It's really like walking into a little shop in Italy.

It's kinda far just for sausage but if you're in the area, the market basket on Nelson road in Lake Charles has some good italian sausage.

Call before you stop by just to make sure they have it. It's really good.

It's not far from 210. Just take the Nelson Road exit and it's down about 2 traffic lights on the left.

My mom puts it in her spaghetti sauce.

+1.

There's nothing shameful about consuming sausage from the Bratwurst capital of the world (Sheboygan, WI)

Our loca Winn-Dixie's Italian Sausage is in my top 3.

Not sure if it's the same as in Houston, but it's worth giving it a shot.
