Naming Military Heilicopters After Native American Tribes
quote:
These are the names of helicopters our military uses in war. They save lives, and across all armies, nothing compares. Their pilots are some of the most skilled in the U.S. military and, therefore, the world.
But to the managing editor of the Boston Review, Simon Waxman, the use of Native American tribe names for military helicopters is a shameful injustice, perpetrated by the American government. Say what?

Surprised it took this long.

I have learned on this board that basically everything is racist.
Every. Damn. Thing. Is. Racist.
Thanks Jazzy.

I've said it before. We need to purge any sort of Native American tribe names from everything. That includes cities, states, counties, rivers and anything else outside of Indian territory. Let them fade into further obscurity out of prevention of offending them.

I brought the helicopter thing up earlier in the week along with 28/50 states being named after Native Americans.
I guess that's next.

PETA says how dare the Dallas Cowboys name their team after people that ruthessly drove cattle to their deaths.
I kid. But wait....... it's coming.

We're I Sec Def, this would be my statement
"For decades the United States military has named it's helicopters after Native American tribes in honor of their bravery, tenacity in battle, and fighting spirit. The DOD has decided to end this practice because Native Americans have become a bunch of whiny pussies who are no longer worthy of the honor."

Are you sure that it's really Native Americans that are offended by these names, or politicians pretending they are to score some points or to deflect the conversation from more important issues?

Asian carp aren't just offending Midwestern waterways. They're offending the politically correct. According to John Hoffman, a Democratic state senator from Minnesota, the name "Asian carp" casts Asian culture and people in a negative light. It's such a problem, in fact, that he sponsored a bill to change the fish's name to "invasive carp" in that state. "Caucasians brought them to America," he told Minneapolis's Star Tribune last week. "Should we call them 'Caucasian carp?' They have names. Let's call them what they are."
LOL!!! It never ends.

It's probably a combination of both, but there isn't a group of Indians claiming that this is just plain semantics so this nonsense will continue.

Memo to idiotic (mostly guilty white) liberals:
No professional sports team, military unit, or school has ever chosen a nickname or mascot in order to mock, ridicule, or disrespect the group associated with said team, military unit, or school. Quite to the contrary, nicknames and mascots are chosen out of respect and are intended to engender a feeling of pride in being associated and identified, to some degree, with said group.
If nicknames and mascots were chosen in order to be derided, or as some sort of joke, then don't you left-wing fools think we would see some obviously ridiculous choices by now? Some examples might be:
Houston Hemorrhoids
Tennessee Tampons
Penn State Proctologists (no comment)
Detroit Douche Bags
Cal-Berkely Cooters
I think you get the point
So, when do we see efforts to change the nicknames for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the ULL Ragin' Cajuns? We need to be consistent, right?
