Not really, but still such a fricking waste all the way around. These people have no regard for anyone else's lives.

They better get that shite under control. Seems like this type of thing was kept out if the touristy areas in the past. Talk about screw up you tourism . Start capping people who are just visiting and watch the dollars dry up.

Stuff like this ALWAYS happens in New Orleans. People still tour New Orleans and still go to Bourbon Street.

I think 7 is the surprising number. That's more than usual for the quarter. Now central city--different story.

Perhaps living in BR I miss out on too much NOLA news, but I don't recall 7 people being shot and shooters just opening fire in the FQ happening all the time.
Sure NO has crime, just seems it was in the east or other areas than the FQ.

New Orleans needs a Vegas style police force to keep this shite out of the tourist areas.

It doesn't happen often but it does happen occasionally. Tourist dollars won't be effected until it happens a few times in a short window. So far NOPD has been able to keep it to a once every year or two incident (bourbon street crowd incidents). The one outside Chris Owens is the last to come to mind.

I thought those CCW holders were supposed to prevent this sort of thing. What happened? Did they all run for cover?

7 billion or so folks in the world. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more frequently.

The people getting shot on Bourbon St at 3 am aren't tourist.

Given the size of the crowds and the volume of drinking going on it does amaze me that we don't see more incidents - both of the "mall shooter" and of the "fights escalated" varieties
