MLS needs a similar TV structure to the EPL on NBC.

If the MLS really wants its league to grow in the US it needs to rethink what its doing with its nationwide TV rights.

Should follow what NBC did with its EPL coverage.

Having to pay for MLS direct Kick for a standard, opposing team POV, definition broadcast of my favorite club is just dumb in the year 2014. I can watch my favorite EPL club far easier than I can my favorite MLS club. Thats just fricking dumb.

They just signed a big contract with FOX/ESPN/Univision for 2015 worth more than what NBC is paying for EPL.

I'm hoping the new TV contract is more fan-friendly.

I really need to try and get into the MLS... Although, I'm not sure how watching even more footy will go over with the missus

The new ESP'N deal will be legit. All the games will be available on watchespn. A lot more games on ESPN and fox networks. Unprecedented coverage for the league

Yea, its hard. I had to wean myself of of other leagues in Europe. I might have a big problem though when the Bundesliga comes to fox next year.

I feel a "Duty" to support our domestic league and they are doing a great job of making me want to tell the MLS to frick off. Its incredible.

It´s probably like English second division. Entertaining, and the level of physical exertion is exemplary. Not a humble opinion, but an honest one. Obviously, experiences and reviews may vary (and rightly so).

Thats a very fair description. It is what it is. Its fairly clear to those paying attention when you watch the first touch in the MLS and then compare it to the first touch in the EPL/La Liga/Bundesliga/Serie A, thats the biggest difference.

Touch and creativity. MLS just doesn't have players with that spark who can see how to break through. The ones that are here are either not crisp enough anymore or just lack teammates that can keep up.

Also, they need to figure this schedule shite out. I cannot take games played during World Cup seriously. It's just weird. I get the concerns about Canada in winter, but this is not helping MLS's image or viewership.

MLS have technical and creative players too. Guys like Diego Valeri, Javier Morales, Pedro Morales, Darlington Nagbe, ect. What they don't have is the whole article. Guys who run like horses and dribble like chris paul.

It's the athleticism that sets the epl apart as the best league in the world.

They took a 3 week break. And what should they do, go up against football? Playing through the summer is great.

Do you mind expanding on your opinion? Do you disagree that the EPL is the best league in the world or do you disagree on why it is?

Even though the deal now is not great its sure better than what it used to be years ago. Basically used to be only way you could watch MLS was watching your local team on what ever comcast sports/fox sports directional channel

Starting next year we're getting 3 games a week on national tv in designated timeslots. All out of market games will be on ESPN3.

I think that alone will be a huge boom to MLS gaining a significant portion of the casual audience.

Most sports have a go to date, where if you turn on the TV you KNOW what you are going to watch.

Right now MLS does not have that presence. Once they establish a go to night for people to watch MLS the league will continue positive growth. Will be great to go to a Sports bar and see MLS games on.
