A Friend of Mine was Raped

Although book smart this girl was always naive when it came to how the world works. Years ago she moved to Colorado to commune with nature, snow ski or some kind of bullshite like that.
In 1987 she picked up a hitchhiker. The guy raped her, beat the living daylights out of her and left her for dead. She survived. He was caught, tried, convicted and sentenced to 43 years. Tomorrow he gets out for time served.
My friend is scared and freaking out. She says that the guy never participated in any of the rehabilitation programs while in prison and has vowed revenge. I told her to move back home to our sparsely populated county and that her friends will protect her. Where we grew up for him to even make a threat against her would be a mistake on his part.
I don't know why I posted this other than I am really, really pissed off right now.

The 2nd Amendment will even the odds. She should get moving on a concealed carry permit asap if she really does feel this guy is a threat.

She should take karate classes and firearm classes. Oh, and get a really big dog. There are ways to protect yourself and still not have to live in constant fear. Best of luck to her.

I don't know his name or age, but I'll ask her and if she tells me then I'll post it here. She did say that as of tomorrow he has five days to register as a convicted sex offender.

1987-2014 does not equal 43 years. That's 27 years. Either way, it's bullshite that he gets out.

27 years is a long time. I can see a guy wanting revenge if he didn't rape her but if he did I doubt he follows up on threats from so long ago. Guy is likely in his late. 50's or early 60's.
